Nice shoe, more pluses than minuses

When I first got the shoes, I wasn't immediately in love. I thought they were a bit bulky. It's not the most elegant shoe, but it does have a unique look. The fit is really nice though and they feel really soft / cloudy to walk in. I'm usually a size 38.5 to 39 (EU). I read the reviews and went for the size 38. I'm glad I did, otherwise they would be too big for me. I have quite wide feet and these fit me great. I agree with the last person that the upper material could've had a bit more oomph. They are not really warm. Even with thick socks, I can feel the wind blowing through the material. They aren't super barefoot, the sole is a bit thicker. But that is a compromise we have to make to get some warmth from the sole and not feel the cold ground. Another note is they are quite noisy. You can definitely hear me walking around.

They would work best for spring season and early autumn, kind of depending on the climate you live in of course.

You’re absolutely right that with a transitional shoe it can be a bit challenging to find the perfect balance between breathability and warmth. The Chukka is designed as a lighter, more versatile option, which means it’s great for mid seasons but not fully insulated. If you’re ever looking for something warmer, our Patrol Winter Boot would be a much better fit.

Room for improvement

My usual size is around US10 or US11 (aprox. insole length around 28,5 cm) and i got these boots in a US 11 (which says is 28,8 cm length)
My first impression when i put them on is that they are really roomy, actually too much for me. The problem is not the length as much as it is the instep and heel area.
I have to use the original cork insole, the felt sole i bought from this site plus an additional insole for them to feel normal.
But even then, the heel area still feels too roomy, which is something i never had problems with before.
I was also expecting more of the upper material since you are saying they are meant for spring/autumn. The felt sole plus some wool socks kinda help but for me, the upper material needs to be a bit thicker.
The outer sole is flexible which is alright for me (i know it has to be barefoot feel) more sturdiness would had been nice but not as necessary as thicker outer material.
Overall i like the look of the shoe but it is too roomy and i wish it felt a bit more like a boot.

We usually recommend about 0.5 to 1.2 cm of space in front of the toes, but if the length feels right to you, then that’s perfectly fine. The Chukka does run a bit roomier compared to some of our other models. We do our best to accommodate a wide range of foot shapes, though it’s not always possible to achieve a perfect fit for everyone.

Love, love, love this boot! I am new to barefoot shoes and an only early on in my barefoot journey, but these shoes were so comfortable right from the start. They look super smart (I wear them for work and with dresses when going out) and they are water resistant. My favourite shoe!

Care instructions

How do I clean my knit models?

To clean your Knit model, first remove loose dirt with a dry, soft shoe brush. If necessary, use lukewarm water and a mild cleaning solution. Wipe off any excess product with a damp cloth. Ensure the shoes dry at room temperature in a well-ventilated area after cleaning or if they get wet. Our Knit models are not machine washable, as this can affect their water-repellent properties and cause the upper material to lose its shape.

We recommend regularly refreshing the water-repellent properties of your Knit model with a waterproofing spray. For best results, treat the shoes before first use. Finish by lightly spraying the inside of your shoes with an odor-neutralizing spray.
