The perfect barefoot shoe for my needs.

I spent MONTHS looking for a barefoot shoe for a very specific scenario: Kickboxing class. I needed something to protect the tops of my feet from dropped weights/scrapes, but didn't want a narrow toe box or hard sole throwing off my balance for kicks. I tried other low-cut barefoot shoes before these, but since I have a disappearing ankle when I point my toes they would sail right off when I kicked or jumped no matter how much I tightened the laces. These Highrise Knits are the answer to my quest. The high top keeps them on my feet no matter the activity, and the flexible sole and uppers let my feet move as if I was barefoot! My preferred martial arts method. They feel incredibly durable, and I hope the new and improved soles keep them lasting for a long time since I only wear these to classes.

Now for the critiques: These shoes are incredibly sweaty. I know they're waterproofed to keep them from getting wet, but that also seals in moisture. They're also made of that recycled PET. I love that they're made of recycled material, but the plastic material with no vents doesn't leave many places for sweat to escape.

The inner foot bed is incredibly rough if you're forgoing socks. I have a good bit of callus on my feet already, and these soles chewed through them. I'd recommend planning to wear these with socks or getting the thinnest inserts just to put something between yourself and that rough sole.

All this being said, these are still my favorite barefoot shoes I've owned so far and I will absolutely buy a new pair when I wear through these eventually.

Great shoes

I love the look of them, the colour, the overall style. I actually had many compliments. I think it should come with an inner sole, for a first time it’s a little difficult to adapt, but after a few weeks of wearing them, it’s much better.

Hello Fredy,

Thanks for taking the time to write this review.

Thin and flexible outsoles are characteristic for barefoot shoes, so your feet can receive the necessary sensory feedback from the ground. This sensory feedback plays an essential role in postural stability and dynamic gait patterns. Many of our customers appreciate these functional benefits and feeling akin to a foot massage. That is why we decided to let our customers choose whether they would like to add additional insoles to their Feelgrounds for a slightly more muted feel.

You can find the sole thickness and the info that our sneakers generally come without an extra insole in all product descriptions. Plus, we actively try to suggest the option for an extra insole through the pop-up displaying matching add-ons whenever you put an article into your cart. Especially for barefoot shoe beginners or people with a low foot volume, an extra insole can be very beneficial.

We understand that the barefoot sensation may take some time to get used to. If you find the ground feel bothersome or if you generally prefer more cushioning, you are more than welcome to order a pair of our insoles. You can find them in our Accessories section of the shop.

We genuinely value your feedback, and your satisfaction is essential to us. We hope that with the option of adding insoles, you'll be able to enjoy our sneakers in a way that suits your comfort preferences better.
If you have any further questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out to us.

Kind regards,
Janina
